Seaventures
Dive Resort, On first arrival at the platform you could be
forgiven for thinking that it all looks a little
"Industrial", a phrase coined by our friend Dave when
he arrived with us in Oct 2004. Of course it looks Industrial,
allthough it had'nt actually occured to me, its a huge
steel structure designed for the oil industry. We should'nt let
that fool us though, this is an ideal place for those wanting
good diving, Mabul is close by, about a minute in the boat,
Sipadan is about 12 or 15 minutes away and could be seen if it
was'nt for the Palm's on Mabul, and Kapalai, again about 10
minutes away and can be seen from the platform.

The weather on
the platform is mostly comfortable, with a nice breeze keeping
things cool, it also keeps away any insects, we have never been
bothered by insects while on the "Rig", a blessing if
you happen to be female and apparently attract the Mozzies like
Janet does when we are at land based resorts, mozzies only seam
to bite females ? is this true ? The main deck area of the
platform is at the back (is it the back or the front?) this is
where the dive equipment, wet suits and tanks are
hung and stored between dives, the rinse tanks for camera's and seperate
tanks for washing gear are also here, this is where dive briefings are given.

Also on the main deck is the
"between dive" area, tables and chairs as well as
loungers for crashing out on. There is a "library" of
magazines and books on sea creatures and fishes of the area
adjacent to the main deck "kitchen" area wher you are
served drinks and snacks between dives, the doughnuts that the
chef makes for afternoon snacks are the best doughnuts i have
ever tasted, they are simply deliceous. The drinks are there for
all to help themselves whenever you feel like
it. Some of the
Nudibranch names are too long to insert under the thumbnail, if
anyone has a burning desire for the full name then you can mail
me.
